Anniversary of the Muskeegie Bank Robbery...
It was one year ago today that Mexican Bob and his gang robbed the Muskeegie Bank. And one year to the day when we lost the good Marshall, Wyler.
I have decided to rerun the story we ran the following morning covering that sad day to remind our readers of the heroes of that day. And to help spur the effort to bring Mexican Bob to jusice. -- Aaron Critcher

MUSKEEGIE BANK ROBBED!!!
MARSHALL WYLER GUNNED DOWN!!
POSSE FORMED TO PURSUE BANDITS!!
The Muskeegie First National Bank was robbed shortly after noon yesterday by Mexican Bob and his gang of murderous cuththroats. Not since the infamous blood bath of the Morrison Stage Robbery of ’62 has the peace of Muskeegie been so utterly shattered.
After noticing suspicious activity outside the bank, Yarnel Pratt of Pratt’s Dry Goods alerted the Marshall nearly thwarting the robbers and saving the day.
“I see’d some strangers ride in. Real rough looking bunch. They was up to no good. I told my wife as much straight off. You could smell trouble on ‘em. They went in the Bucking Tiger Saloon and came out again several times. Nervous as a bunch of meal worms in a Chicken Coop. They were eye-ballin’ that Bank real good and checking out the Alley over by on Fillmore. When I see’d five of ‘em go into the Bank leavin’ one outside to hold the horses I knew I had to git on over and tell the Marshall right quick like.”
Once informed, Marshall Wyler drew his famous twelve gauge Greener and box of shells and made his way across the street to the Bank to investigate. He had barely made it midway across Main Street when he was gunned down in cold blood.
The Marshall managed to fire back before succumbing to his wounds killing the bandit and scatterin the gang’s get away horses.
Meanwhile, the gang inside had brutally pistol whipped teller Morgan Lance for not responding fast enough to their demands to open the safe. Another employee complied and handed over 1,700 dollars in gold coins and four hundred collars in Republican notes.
When they emerged from the Bank with the loot, the bandits learned their horses were gone and that several citizens were moving against them – having been alerted by the Marhsall’s shots.
Scattering like vermin the bandits attempted to escape as gunsmoke quickly filled the streets and alley ways. Two more were gunned down but unfortuanately Mexian Bob himself and two companions managed to steal some mounts and ride off with the bank money.
Deputy Assayer, Walter Snyder was wounded during the shoot out after bravely going face to face with Mexican Bob.
“I had that rascal cornered,” said Snyder from his bed as Doc Yancey tended to his wounds, “I was standing toe to toe with the man. He was scared. Real scared. You could see it in his eyes. I would’ve had him too but my Derringer jammed on me.”
Deputy Hollis formed a posse to go after the bandits. As of press time no word has been received on their
